Ok, you're not going to believe this.

Just when you thought that the conservatives had gone too far, that nothing that they could propose could actually shock you, there's this.

In case you're too busy to read the article, let me summarize. An Indiana legislator (who isn't just some marginal voice, but heads the Health and Finance Commission) has introduced a bill requiring parents to be screened and certified before being allowed to recieve conception assistance from a doctor. Yep, a baby license.

As if that isn't creepy enough, wait until you hear the criteria. One aspect of the background check features a clause, "... making sure they regularly go to church or some other "faith-based" activity, before a doctor can help them have a baby."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Of course, I can't imagine that this could possibly pass in Indiana. It would seem that voters in Indianapolis, Evansville, and even Gary would veto the rest of the state. However, just wait until the idea hits Mississippi and Alabama. This could really pass! And with a rabid right wing Supreme Court in those states and at the Federal level, it could be upheld! I don't mean to put on the tinfoil hat here, but as absurd as it may seem now would any of you really be THAT surprised... really?
